Privacy and terms
What we hold
Written to be read rather than to protect us. Last updated 16 August 2026.
What we collect
When you put your name down we ask for four things and one optional fifth: your name, your email address, your province or territory, your role or designation, and the languages you work in. That is all. We do not ask for anything about your clients and we never will.
Our email provider records the ordinary things every email service records, such as whether a message was opened. Our host records ordinary web traffic. We do not use advertising trackers and there is nothing on this site following you anywhere else.
Why we hold it
To write to you about Rooted, to build the directory, and to know which provinces and languages are covered so we know where to look next. Nothing else.
Who else sees it
Our email service, which stores the list, and our host, which serves this page. Both are ordinary suppliers acting on our instructions. We do not sell your details, we do not rent them, and we do not pass them to anyone who wants to sell you something. If that ever changed we would ask you first, and the answer would be a real question rather than a pre ticked box.
How long
Until you ask us to remove it, or until Rooted stops existing, whichever comes first. If we ever close, we delete the list and say so publicly.
Your say
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or unsubscribe, at any time and without giving a reason. Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link, or you can write to hello@rootedkindred.com and a person will answer. If we get it wrong you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Terms, briefly
Rooted is a directory. It is not a therapy service, it is not a crisis service, and it does not provide clinical care or advice. Nothing here is a substitute for speaking to a professional, and if you are in danger please call or text 988.
We verify that a listed practitioner is registered and in good standing with their college at the time we check, and again once a year. That is a real check and it is the whole of what it is. It is not a judgement about whether someone is right for you, and it is not a guarantee of anything that happens between you and them. Choosing a therapist is your decision and the working relationship is between the two of you.
Practitioners are responsible for what their own listing says. If something on this site is wrong, tell us and we will fix it or take it down.
This site is offered as it is, in good faith, by a very small organisation. We will not promise you it is never unavailable, and we cannot be responsible for what follows from using it.
Who we are
Rooted is operated by Ruth Unaegbu Counselling and Coaching in British Columbia. Ruth is a practising counsellor and will appear in this directory on the same terms as everyone else. Write to hello@rootedkindred.com about any of this and a person will read it.
